Investigations - Act 2
Part 1
Yogoloth slowly woke to the sounds of birds and the feel of sunlight on his face. Taking a deep breath, he yawned, his toothy maw stretched wide, his purple tongue curling up as he did. His eyes opened slowly and he frowned at the wooden beams above his head. Then he remembered where he was and looked around the small room he had rented. Everything was just as he'd left it.
The bird song had been rather brief and had filtered in through the shutters of the window. The candle had long burned out, leaving a mangled lump of wax in the clay dish, which had held it the night before. The narrow gaps in the shutters let in just enough light

Investigations - Act 1

The huddled shape breathed slow and deep, visualizing the act as he did. Eyes closed, one breath in, one breath out. His arms hugging his body tightly, on his knees, naked on the forest floor. The clear morning sky slowly brightened, now threatening sun after having banished the night's stars. He took a deep breath again, his hands moving in slow circles, fingers feeling the bumps on his back where his wings should have been. Yogoloth opened his rich purple eyes and took another deep, slightly wavering breath.
The usual pain of his transformation had faded, but the loss of his wings had brought a fresh wave of panic. It was perfectly

Plans And Preparations
Part 1
This part of the forest was as ancient as forests could be. Untouched by the developments of the civilised races and with a dense canopy of trees that made it hard to spot anything from the air. Plants grew wild and untamed here, their branches and roots entwined together in a vast web of tangled wood. Fallen trees and disturbed rocks were rapidly covered in moss and lichen, the air hung heavy with pollen and spores. Nature ruled here and Yogoloth felt right at home; at least, at first.
As the half dragon padded slowly along an ancient path, heavily overgrown between the twisted trunks, he had felt more and more uneasy. Bird song had

"Elder, do you know him?", the younger gryphoness asked. Her older sister subtly glanced between the two males and her eyes widened a little. It looked like she was trying to think of something to say, but in the end decided to stay quiet.
"Girls, head back to the colony.", he said calmly, it was neither an order nor a request.
"But, we can head back with-"
"That won't be needed. Tell your grandmother I'll be walking back with a friend."
"But, grandfather...", the younger looked worried as her older sister pushed her gently with a wing.
"Let's head back.", the older gryphoness half whispered to her sister. She turned back to her

Yogoloth had reared up onto his hind legs and was baring his teeth. His feathery wings moving this way and that to steady himself and to buffet his enemy if required. He swung a fore paw out to ward off the gryphon and got a hiss in return. He grinned around a growl as he stepped to the side, his outstretched wings offering him the balance that he wouldn't have had with hind legs alone.
Lenela held her body low and had partially stretched, her legs a little wide but tensed in readiness. She could quickly recoil in defence, spring up in attack or surge forward to pursue. It was a very low profile stance that Yogoloth had called the Gr

The hybrid's head ducked into the water and took a few deep mouthfuls. It was not the clearest of lakes, but feeling thirsty after a good meal of fish was to be expected. The half dragon didn't often eat fish because they were not that easy to catch in any real quantity. But having a hunting partner helped in driving them into the shallows where they panicked and were easy to pick off to fill your stomach.
Her head lifted out of the lake, dark brown beak dripping with water. The summer sun reflected off each drop as they tumbled back down into the surface sending chaotic waves dancing outwards. Her short ivory horns looking a little

The morning air was fresh and the wind sharp and cold. The winter had been quite mild, but a sudden cold snap at the beginning of spring had taken both the people and the land and by surprise. Yogoloth just knew the winter weather would come late this year and he'd put off the next part of his journey for that reason. He was used to the cold, but it was never a good idea to get caught flying in a snow storm, even with magic at your side.
His scaly hand paused a moment before the oaken door as his other hand held the cloak around his shoulders tight against the wind and snow fall. He wasn't even sure why he had changed to his small tw
